English premier league predicted order of finish
The premier league has thrown out the script the last few years making it unpredictable so I wouldn’t be expected if all of this doesn’t happen…
I think this is the year Jose mourinho gets that third premier league title. If the whole side clicks I could see them winning it by the end of April. Felipe Luis not making the World Cup brazil squad was a blessing for Chelsea. Fabregas looks set to pick up where he left off last time he was in London and Diego Costa looks the part. Add in hazard and the cash inflow from the sale of David Luiz, who had a rush of blood to the head from time to time, title deciding mistakes. But this year I think they have this one in the bag.
2. Manchester United
Despite not yet coaching a single competitive game in the premier league, Louis Van Gaal brings an almost sir alex ferguson intimidation to the league. I expect them to sign either di Maria, cuadrado, and dr Vidal, as well as Benatia, Blind, and or left back cover for the young luke shaw. If Chelsea slip up at Christmas, it could be a two plus team race to the finish and man utd certainly have the credentials.
Although the community shield is effectively just a friendly, I was pleased to see the team I support hand it to man city. I think Alexis Sanchez needs time to fit in, yet I think a healthy Ramsey and an on form giroud could make the gunners very competitive. Plus with cazorla and new signings debuchy and chambers, there’s hope that Ozil and mertesackers early season absence will go unnoticed. With a couple more signings, arsenal could be the real deal, although I expect them to challenge more in the champions league than the premier league.
4. Manchester City
Like arsenal, I see city doing better in the champions league. The defending champs look a little lackluster to me yet they have quality in yaya toure and David silva. Nastasic and mangala have their work cut out for them but I think they can handle it, the question is if aguero can stay healthy and dzeko stays in form.
I don’t think you sell Suarez and expect to win a title. Problem or no problem, Suarez cut apart defenses with his runs better than any striker in a while. The new Southampton trio look promising but I think they need time to develop. Mignolet was suspect in goal last year and not starting the World Cup will have done nothing good for his confidence. I think Liverpool will learn a lot about themselves this year, just maybe not good things as much as the need for a little more proven quality.
I think the capture of lukaku was the signing of the season outside of the top four teams. Like he did against the us in the World Cup, lukaku showed he had too much class for the opposition and although I rate the us national team very low, I expect Martinez to get the most out of him and compatriot Mirallas. The defense looks solid and Tim Howard is a solid last line of defense between the goal posts.
I’m not sure anyone associated with the club knows who the best 11 are. I saw someone described last summers transfer activity as “a kid in a candy store”. Eriksen will look to pick up on last year but others like Lamela have yet to do anything and others like soldado and chadli have felt premier league growing pains. I don’t understand the signing of Michel vorm given that Lloris is the unquestioned number one in goal. Eric Dier looks an interesting prospect as does harry Kane. However I think more disappointment is I’m store for spurs fans. (I hope)
I may sound crazy but I think this is the year stoke finally give their loyal support at the Britannia some attractive football. Bojan has looked fantastic in pre season adding to a promising midfield. They’ve always had a solid defense I’m just worried about how many players in the team are capable of regular goal scoring. Arnautovic would do well to get in more on the act.
I think the so called exodus from the club has been blown out of proportion. I think they have a good new manager with koeman coming in. He’s made some interesting signings yet the capture of forester from Celtic will relieve saints fans as well as Jose fonte and maya yoshida at the back. Graziano pelle looks like a possible flop up top yet I think there’s enough quality to keep the southern side in the top half.
Out of all the clubs making interesting signings, Newcastle has made the oddest. Facundo ferreyra? Yet this is not a bad thing as Siem de Jong can’t possibly do worse than his brother did and remy cabella is a class player who should adapt quickly. Rivière appears to be this years loci remy. Alan Pardew has a hot and cold squad, yet I think this team gets better as the season goes along, which should also keep pardew his job.
I thought laudrup was a good manager until Gary monk shifted from captain to coach and did decently well. Wilfried bony got better with every match I saw him and shelvey was an unsung hero in the midfield. Anything from new signing gomis would be a bonus. Also the loss of Chico Flores is a blessing in disguise given his disciplinary record.
Gus poyet said last year that “football is trying to kill me”. Although the Uruguayan manager was mostly kidding it did seem Sunderland would lose their first division lives if not for Connor wickham. Poyet needs him to stay at the club and stay in form to ward off that relegation battle. Jack Rodwell should help with this as he looks to restart his career after a torrid time at man city. Pantillimon should be safer in goal than the error prone mannone. However I am bemused why they signing Vergini, he looked appalling at times. I do think they could use 14 million to spend but just not on borini. With or without any new signings I think the black cats have enough.
The tigers made an interesting early off season signings of British players. This should add some more grit to this championship playing team. However yet play however it seems to work and I think it’ll be too much for lesser teams. I’m also looking for tom ince to make a splash this season. They have European matches possibly looming and I think it’ll be a distraction but I think hull is less defensively deficient than their fellow strugglers.
They did it the hard way, but qpr managed to bring first division football back to loftus road. Harry redknapp has no excuses for why this side shouldn’t stay up. Mark Hughes got the equation wrong but I think they have a proper balance of players now. Qpr have too much quality to go down this season, but it’s happened before. I think charlie Austin will prosper and if loic remy is part of the squad then qpr could make a climb towards mid table.
15. Aston villa
Vila need benteke to come back as soon as possible. I can see them creating chances but they need the big forward to be his prolific self. I’m confused at what they’re doing there, no one wants to buy the club, I don’t think lambert is the right man at the helm, and their off season signings have been mediocre. Captain Ron vlaar comes off of a solid World Cup and will be the rock that the midfield needs to find. I think going forward they will breach lesser teams and perhaps top teams on an off day.
16. West Ham
Summer hasn’t been great for the club. Big Sam is already on the hot seat for his job, record signing Andy Carroll is on the treatment table again, and pressure has been heaped on enner Valencia to make or break the season. I think the goals will come from somewhere, whether zarate or sakho or somebody, but I think the escape from relegation will happen at the back. Winston Reid and company need to be at their best to keep the goals from flooding in.
17. Crystal Palace
I don’t think crystal palace will get to 38 points but I don’t think they will get relegated. Tony pulis leaves at a horrible time and left them manager-less at the start of the season. This team needs to learn how to scrap and unite without their leader. Mile jedinak and brede hangeland need to provide stability. In the end I think they will stay up only because there will be three teams a lot worse than them.
It will be a tonight time this season staying up after last years cakewalk to a 1st place championship finish, but this is the big league. And chosing brightons unproven in the premier league striker Leonardo ulloa is just asking to be sent back down. Albrighton is a good addition and Kasper schmeichael looks the part but I think the foxes are not yet ready to battle in this division.
19. West Brom
I was not the only person surprised at the hiring of Alan Irvine. However he should do more than pepe Mel who looked hopeless and more like a nervous fan than a manager. The summer has been busy at the hawthorns but defensive frailty has me worried that the baggies are looking at life in the championship.
This looks like the exact same club from five years ago that couldn’t stay in the league. Dyche looks a fired up manager but so was Owen coyle. Even an opening day win over Chelsea would be reminiscent of their premier league shock over man utd. Ultimately I think it’s been difficult in the transfer market in their defense, but I don’t see a defense at the back nor a proven goalscorer. Their jerseys don’t even look normal with premier league numbers on them. It would take a miracle and then some for a 17th place safety spot.
